Virtual Town Hall Meetings
Yesterday Town staff hosted the first of three Parks+Recreation virtual Town Hall meetings. Thank you everyone who attended! Polling during the meeting revealed our participants want to see more bicycle-pedestrian and nature interpretation type park amenities. We also learned that there is interest in more passive recreation amenities for the Mid Island Tract, such as a conservation area or outdoor classroom for education purposes, general use field for pick-up games, and fitness trail. Join us for the next virtual Town Hall so we can hear from you!
This Friday from 10:00 to 11:00am we will be hosting the second virtual Town Hall meeting. Use this link to register and participate in the live polling during the meeting. You can also watch the meeting on the Town's Public Meeting Facebook page.
Our Plan
Today Town Council is holding a regularly scheduled meeting at 4:00pm and Our Plan is on the agenda. Council will be holding a second reading for the Ordinance to adopt Our Plan. This meeting is the final step for it to become the Town's new 2020 to 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The Parks + Recreation section in Our Plan is foundational to everything we will be doing in parks and recreation for the Island community over the next several years.

Three Ways to Participate
All three types of opportunity to participate will cover similar information and gather input from you. Join the conversation for one or all of them!
1. Parks + Recreation Survey
We are hosting an Open Town Hall survey with questions about your preferences for our parks and recreation system based on the Recommendations and Actions Items in Our Plan. There are also questions about facility and amenity programming for the three parks.
2. Virtual Town Hall Meetings
Staff will be presenting updates and information about the parks projects in virtual Town Hall style meetings with live polling and Q&A. Please register to attend using the links listed above in the Calendar of Events column. We have two meetings left happening this month!
3. Open Park Days
Meet us outside to talk about your ideas for our parks at one of our Open Park Days. Staff will be set up with maps and comment cards to hear from you. Social distancing will be enforced.
