Introducing Part 3 of the Parks + Recreation Master Plan!
On October 6, 2020, Town Council adopted the Parks + Recreation Master Plan Part 1, prepared by Lose Design. Part 1 included an analysis and recommendations for improving existing parks and for new projects.
Part 2 is how the information from Lose Design was incorporated into the Parks + Recreation element of Our Plan, the Town’s new 20 year comprehensive plan, which we anticipate will be adopted later this month.
Now it is time to begin Part 3! In the early stage of the process we will be working with the community and stakeholders to prioritize the Recommendations and Action Items included in Our Plan.
We will also be looking to hear from you about the proposed programming for the three major parks that Part 1 presented as a priority for major park development: Chaplin Community Park, Crossings Park and the Mid Island Tract (the Town-owned portion of the former Planters Row Golf Course).
And then what? This winter and spring, we will begin working with a design consultant to plan out the three major park projects based on your input. Your preferences about the Recommendations and Action Items will be used to help Town staff and elected and appointed officials plan future projects and policy for the Town's parks and recreation system.

Three Ways to Participate
All three types of opportunity to participate will cover similar information and gather input from you. Join the conversation for one or all of them!
1. Parks + Recreation Survey
We are hosting an Open Town Hall survey with questions about your preferences for our parks and recreation system based on the Recommendations and Actions Items in Our Plan. There are also questions about facility and amenity programming for the three parks.
2. Virtual Town Hall Meetings
Staff will be presenting updates and information about the parks projects in three virtual Town Hall style meetings with live polling and Q&A. Please register to attend using the links listed above in the Calendar of Events column.
3. Open Park Days
Meet us outside to talk about your ideas for our parks at one of our Open Park Days. Staff will be set up with maps and comment cards to hear from you. Social distancing will be enforced.
