August was a big month for arts and culture in Renton. From opening local artist studios to bringing live music, art markets, workshops, and creative experiences to downtown, there were plenty of ways to connect with the arts this month. Here’s a look back at August and what’s coming up in September.
August Artist Studio Tour
The August Artist Studio Tour offered a behind-the-scenes look at Renton’s creative community, with visitors invited into working studios and creative spaces throughout the city to meet artists, see their processes, and explore their work.
Thank you to all of the artists who participated and opened their spaces to the public! Missed the tour? You can still connect with many of these local artists. Several have online shops, upcoming classes and events, or studios where you can visit by appointment or during regular hours.
Explore the participating artists and find your next creative connection.

Give Your Costume a Second Life! Presented by the Renton Municipal Arts Commission and City of Renton Public Works Sustainability, the Costume Swap is a fun and sustainable way to get ready for Halloween while keeping gently used costumes out of the landfill.
Have costumes, accessories, wigs, or other Halloween goodies you no longer need? Donations are wanted September 1 through 25! Drop off clean, gently used costumes and accessories at Renton City Hall, Renton Community Center, or Highlands Neighborhood Center.
Then come swap, find something new to you, and give your old favorites another chance to shine!
