Renton Arts Update: June Highlights & Summer Kickoff

As we move into summer, Arts & Culture programming across Renton is picking up momentum with a full season of public art, live performances, and community-driven events happening throughout the city.

From downtown activations to neighborhood partnerships, this time of year brings more opportunities to experience art in everyday spaces and to connect with the artists and organizations who help shape our creative community - so come along! 

Legacy Square opening Day

The City of Renton invites you to join us on Saturday, June 6, 1–8 p.m. in downtown Renton for the grand opening of three new public spaces. The celebration includes live performances, food, futsal games, community activities, and a ribbon cutting at 1:30 p.m. Legacy Square will officially open as Renton’s new arts and culture hub, featuring performance space, public art, and community programming. Sound Wave

Following the ribbon cutting, Sound Wave, the official band of Seattle Sounders FC, will fill the Square with energy! An ensemble of brass and percussion will bring their signature high-energy sound, performing upbeat arrangements across rock, pop, Latin, funk, and more.

Te Fare

Te Fare O Tamatoa will perform at 3 p.m., sharing and celebrating Tahitian culture through traditional dance and music.

Joyas Mestizas

Taking the stage at 4 p.m., Joyas Mestizas Dance Company will share vibrant folklórico dance performances celebrating cultural tradition and movement.

Yambambo

Closing out opening day on the brand new stage, Yambambo brings their high-energy salsa sound to Legacy Square at 6:00 p.m. Led by Peruvian Seattleite and multi-percussionist Gabriel Cerna, the band fuses Cuban timba and salsa with musicians rooted across Peru, Panama, Puerto Rico, and beyond.

Watch Party (Mexico)

On Thursday, June 11, Renton will join communities around the world in celebrating the FIFA World Cup 2026™ opening day with the first watch party at Legacy Square kicking off at noon on the big screen. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy pre-kickoff programming and live streaming from Mexico City beginning 90 minutes before the match, bringing together music, culture, and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this global tournament. 

The celebration will highlight Mexican culture through internationally recognized artists and traditional performances, setting the stage for an exciting start to World Cup festivities right here in downtown Renton.

Biff Moss

The Renton Farmers Market returns to downtown Renton for its 25th season, opening Tuesday, June 2! Enjoy fresh produce, local vendors, community connections, and a full lineup of live performances throughout the season. CALL FOR ART - Due May 30

Harvest Festival

The City of Renton is seeking local artists for a temporary Light Art Activation at the Harvest Festival on Sept 19 at Legacy Square. Selected works will create illuminated installations that enhance the evening festival experience and engage the community through light-based public art. The deadline to submit your qualifications is May 30, 2026.  Get the full details here.

Renton Art Lounge

Artist-to-Artist Meetup: Folk Painting with Drew Dost Join local artist Drew Dost at Drum Roll Wine on June 17, 2026 (doors at 4 p.m.) for a hands-on folk-inspired wooden box painting session designed for artists of all levels to connect, share ideas, and create in a collaborative space. Tiny Wonders

FUN FACT! Did you know? A “hat trick” comes from sports and means achieving three wins at once....like celebrating three new downtown spaces opening together in one big event.
