Rainier Ave. S. Phase 4 Improvements Construction Update

Road Impacts

Intermittent nighttime closures at S. 2nd St, Tobin St, Victoria St, Hayes Pl, Nelson Pl NW, and NW 3rd Pl beginning as soon as Monday, September 22, for final paving and asphalt overlay.
Uniformed Police Officers (UPOs) will be on site at intersections from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to assist with traffic flow.

Nighttime Construction Update

Nighttime construction for the final paving and asphalt overlay will occur from September 22 through mid-October. The overlay adds a smooth top layer that evens out the surface, improves ride quality, and helps protect the roadway for years to come.

Drivers should follow posted signs and closures and use extra caution when traveling through the area at night.

Did you know that Rentonite Frank Tonkin was the very first Taco Time franchisee in Washington State? After opening Tonkin’s Café in 1933 and later running Bif’s Drive-In at 2nd and Rainier, he converted the drive-in into a Taco Time in 1964, bringing a new flavor to Renton. By 1969, it had become a local favorite!

Construction may be underway downtown, but Taco Time is still serving up classics you know and love. Swing by this weekend to enjoy a taste of Renton history and support a local business with deep community roots.
