As we move into July, Renton’s arts scene is buzzing with excitement! From last month’s successes to upcoming events, there’s plenty to celebrate and even more to look forward to. Whether you’re an artist, an arts enthusiast, or a community member, here’s a snapshot of what’s happening across Renton’s creative community.
As part of Renton River Days, the Renton Municipal Arts Commission and Allied Arts of Renton invite the community to the annual Chalk Art Competition on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Held along Cedar River Park Drive, this free event welcomes artists of all ages to create sidewalk chalk art inspired by this year’s theme, “Summer Vibes.” Attendees can vote for their favorite pieces, with cash prizes awarded to the top three winners. You may have noticed the artwork at Sunset Neighborhood Park is temporarily missing—don’t worry! The art is currently under restoration and will return brighter and better than ever by mid-July. Thank you for your patience as we refresh this important part of our community’s creative space.
Renton Art Grants – Apply now! Applications are still open for the 2025 Renton arts grants. If you’re an artist or arts organization with a creative project idea, we want to hear from you! Join us for July’s Art Lounge at Wyldwood Creative on Wednesday, July 16, from 4 to 7 p.m., where creatives of all skill levels are invited to slow down and get playful by painting their own air-dry clay slugs. We’ll provide the slugs, paints, and paint pens—just bring your imagination! Join us on August 16, 2025, for Art in Motion: Renton’s Artist Studio Tour—a free, self-guided event celebrating Renton’s vibrant arts community.
