Rainier Ave S Phase 4 Improvements Construction Update
Road closures
-
South Tobin Street full daytime closure is ongoing for paving
-
Hayes Place SW full daytime closure beginning June 9 for paving
-
Nelson Place NW full daytime closure beginning June 9 for paving
Paving work is subject to weather conditions. Local access will be maintained during these temporary closures, and temporary barricades will be set up for safe passage.
We will do our best to notify the public of any closures within 24 hours.
Please note that lane closures will increase significantly as we move into the paving and build-up phases of construction.
Ongoing Traffic Challenges
We recognize that recent traffic conditions have been challenging, and we appreciate your continued patience as construction progresses along this busy corridor. To help manage congestion during peak daytime hours, additional flaggers have been deployed to improve traffic flow and support overall safety.
Our team is working hard to balance construction progress with keeping traffic moving through this vital corridor. While some disruption is unavoidable, we recommend using GPS to check alternate routes, especially during peak travel times.
Thank you again for your understanding as we work toward long-term improvements for the community.

Sidewalk, curb, gutter, and driveway work continues
Crews are continuing to work on sidewalk, curb, gutter, driveway, and street improvements, including pouring and curing concrete. Please note that all concrete work is weather-dependent, and the schedule may adjust if inclement weather, such as cold or wet conditions, is forecasted.
We will make every effort to maintain access to driveways. If any closures are necessary for upgrades, property owners will be notified in advance. We appreciate your patience as our team continues to make progress on this project.
Temporary crosswalks and access points will be provided as needed until the full sidewalk installation is completed.
Please follow all pedestrian and traffic controls as work progresses.
