Nominations Open for 2025 National Small Business Week Awards

Community Fundraiser for Local Grocery Store
The Renton community is uniting to support Top of the Hill Quality Produce, a beloved grocery store damaged by fire on August 24th.
Join The Red Tea Room, La Crema Patisserie, and C. Davis Texas BBQ on Wednesday, September 4th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fairwood Square (17620 140th Ave SE, Renton). Enjoy BBQ, sweets, gelato, and fresh bouquets, with all proceeds helping the store’s owners rebuild.

Start-up 425 Accelerator Program
Startup425 is proud to announce the launch of the S425 accelerator program, in partnership with the Founder Institute! This intensive program offers two tracks: one for startup founders who plan to seek venture capital investment; the other for traditional entrepreneurs building sustainable small businesses.
The program is free to anyone living or building their business in a Startup425 partner city (Bellevue, Bothell, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, and Renton). Sessions will be held virtually with optional in-person events from the end of September until late January with breaks for holidays, final dates TBD. Sign up today
2025 Tourism Grants
Renton is now accepting applications for 2025 Tourism Promotion Grants, which support innovative events that showcase the city's charm and boost tourism. Nonprofit organizations can apply for funding for multiple events, but capital expenditures are not eligible. The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC), appointed by the mayor, will review all applications and recommend funding proposals to the Renton City Council. LTAC prioritizes projects that attract diverse audiences and have a history of drawing overnight visitors. The application period closes on October 18, 2024, and the list of funded projects will be announced in December.
WA Ecology grant
The new WA Ecology grant for “Improving Air Quality in Overburdened Communities” is now available! This grant supports organizations working with their communities to develop projects that reduce air pollution. Application Period: August 29, 2024 – October 24, 2024. Female Founder World Grant Opportunity

Puget Sound Energy Small Business Energy Assessment
This program helps small businesses boost energy efficiency with assessments and solutions like LED upgrades, water-saving products, and HVAC improvements. Available to PSE customers with small businesses under 10,000 sq ft, it cuts energy costs and improves work environments. Learn more here.
Fleet Decarbonization Accelerator Program
The Fleet Decarbonization Accelerator is a hands-on program designed to help businesses create actionable plans to decarbonize their fleets. Enrollment is now open for the Winter 2025 cohort, with weekly sessions running from January 13th to April 7th.

Start Simple Course - September 2024
The Multi-session Course provides a Start Simple Business Course covering Business Start-up/Preplanning and Marketing/Sales in four 2-hour virtual sessions. Participants receive guidance from a First Step Business Advisor to assess the feasibility of their business idea and join a community of business owners working towards a vibrant local economy.
