Celebrate National Farmers Market Week from August 4 to 10 to honor the vitality of local agriculture and sustainable food systems. Renton Farmers Market is part of the Parks and Recreation Department. It provides a space for the public to shop locally made goods and foods, connect communities, and offer opportunities for low-income women, infants, children, and seniors to redeem benefits for fresh produce.
During Monday evening's council meeting, a proclamation was designated for Farmers Market Week in Renton. Accepting the proclamation was the City of Renton Parks and Recreation Department’s Farmers Market Coordinator Carrie Olson.
There are only seven markets left for the 2024 season! Catch an assortment of vendors, farmers, and small businesses at Piazza Park every Tuesday through September 24, creating a vibrant community hub bustling with energy and diversity.

Promoting safety and unity: National Night Out in Renton 2024 recap
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building event in the United States, observed every first Tuesday of August in cities nationwide. This event serves as a platform for fostering greater community awareness and engagement.
The event aims to highlight essential police programs like the Neighborhood Watch Program and advocate for other crime prevention and safety initiatives.
Earlier this week, the Renton Police Department, Renton Regional Fire Authority, the FBI Engagement Team, and the city's Parks and Recreation Neighborhood Program visited eight neighborhoods to connect and strengthen community bonds with public safety agencies. Renton neighborhoods and the various agencies facilitated interactive discussions on vital safety measures and crime prevention strategies, in addition to hosting picnics, BBQ’s, potlucks, and games, encouraging everyone to get to know one another and have a great time in the process.
Thank you to the city's active neighborhood involvement, Renton Police Department, Renton Regional Fire Authority, and the city's Neighborhood Program for taking a proactive approach to crime prevention and working as a community toward safety initiatives.
