Did You Know? Washington's Aerospace Industry is Soaring!
A new report by the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Community Attributes, Inc. reveals that Washington's aerospace industry generated over $71 billion in business revenues and supported 194,000 jobs in 2023. The industry is recovering strongly, with Boeing securing a five-year peak of 1,456 new airplane orders. Aerospace employees contribute significantly to the local economy, spending billions on healthcare, retail, and restaurant services. The report also highlights Boeing's $43.9 million in charitable giving and $30 million support for employee education. Read the full report here.
New Regulations for Cosmetic Products: What Businesses Need to Know
The Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act (TFCA) restricts certain toxic chemicals in cosmetics sold or used in Washington. Affected businesses must either replace non-compliant products or remove them by the deadlines. For in-state retailers, the restrictions start on January 1, 2026.
The TFCA program offers support to cosmetology and beauty-related businesses transitioning to safer products, including technical assistance, resources, and reimbursement for replacements. Priority is given to women-owned and minority-owned small businesses.

SBA Announces $3 Million in New Grant Funding for Cybersecurity
The SBA has launched a new $3 million grant opportunity through the Cybersecurity for Small Businesses Pilot Program. State government agencies can apply for grants between $1,000,000 and $1,045,000 to provide critical cybersecurity training and support for startups and emerging businesses. Applications are open from July 2 to August 2, with funds intended to bolster cybersecurity measures and educate small businesses about combating cyber threats. Business Impact NW, in collaboration with the Port of Seattle, invites applications for the Business Accelerator Program! This 13-week program is designed to help women and minority-owned businesses, along with small enterprises, grow and succeed. Eligible businesses should have at least three years of operational experience, annual revenues of $500,000 or more, and be in the construction, architectural & engineering services, or energy sectors.
