Allied Arts

Spotlight on Allied Arts of Renton: Celebrating 60 Years!

Join us in celebrating Allied Arts of Renton, one of Renton's longest-standing arts organizations, as they mark their 60th anniversary!

Founded in June 1964, Allied Arts has been a cornerstone of the community, supporting events like the Annual Renton Art Show, Renton River Days Chalk Art Contest, and student music scholarships.

This year, they’ve partnered with the King County Library System’s Renton Highlands Branch to offer free monthly art classes and activities. Additionally, Allied Arts will be supporting Renton River Days from July 26 through 28, volunteering at the Chalk Art Contest, and sponsoring the $1,000 grand prize.

Craft Cruise

Embark on a creative journey through downtown businesses, engaging in 15-minute crafting sessions at each stop. It's like a wine walk, but with an artistic twist! Experience the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Renton during the 32nd annual Return to Renton Car Show and unleash your creativity.

Join us on Sunday, July 7, and start your adventure at Piazza Park to pick up your map. Participation is free, registration is required to guarantee your spot on the Cruise. (Space is limited and capped at 200 participants.) Secure your spot for free today.

Chalk Art Festival

Experience a vibrant burst of creativity as local artists and amateurs converge to transform Renton's pavements into a dazzling kaleidoscope of colors at this year's event. As part of the city's Renton River Days festival and sponsored by Allied Arts of Renton, participant in the Renton Municipal Arts Commission Chalk Art Competition. There is a special cash prize of $1,000 provided by Allied Arts for the winning design!

Embrace your inner artist amidst the lively festival atmosphere on Saturday, July 27. Artists of all ages are invited to register by July 12 for the competition, featuring reserved spots and eligibility for the People's Choice Award and the Judge's Selection Award. Community Happenings: Events and Opportunities Beyond the Arts Commission

Dress Like Frieda

The city's Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the Renton Municipal Arts Commission presents the 2024 Summer Concert Series! Enjoy several free summer concerts at the Kidd Valley Stage at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. Kidd Valley Stage is located at 1201 Lake Washington Blvd. N.

 


Sunset Community Mural

Discover a day of creativity and community at the Sunset Community Church on Saturday, July 13 for a family-friendly mural painting event! All are welcome to join in, regardless of skill level, and contribute to a vibrant paint-by-number mural. Enjoy music, giveaways, and delicious food as we come together to beautify our neighborhood through art. Don't miss out—bring your creativity and make a colorful impact with us!

 


Family Fun

The city's Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the King County Library System present the free 2024 Family Fun Entertainment Series! Marco Cortes will be performing Thursday, July 18, at 11:30 a.m., at Liberty Park. Sing and dance while Marco performs familiar songs in Spanish and English!

 

paint your own pottery

Join us on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Renton Highlands for a delightful pottery painting session with Studio 2 You! Led by Davicia, explore glazes and craft your own ceramic masterpiece from a variety of items, all food-safe and dishwasher friendly. Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup at the library afterward. Click here for more event information. Renton River Days

Deeply rooted within Renton residents, Renton River Days is a festival born from local collaboration, uniting an ever-growing community. Since its inception in 1986, this vibrant festival has combined Renton's passion for music, art, food, and entertainment for all ages. Join the 2024 Renton River Days celebration from July 26 to July 28 to dive into various activities and discover "Where Community Grows!"

This year's mid-summer celebration is proudly sponsored by Boeing, Brotherton Cadillac, McLendon Hardware, BECU, Walker's Renton Mazda, Walker's Renton Subaru, and PSE.
