Attention Renton landlords and property managers: Register Renton rentals and enhance the quality of rental housing
Did you know that renters make up 46% of households in Renton? That's why it is essential to prioritize the maintenance of quality rental housing in the city. All landlords and property managers must register their residential rental properties within Renton city limits annually.
The City of Renton's Community & Economic Development Department's Rental Registration Program ensures that every residential rental property in Renton is officially registered. Compliance with this requirement is crucial for promoting safe and well-maintained housing for renters in Renton.
Registering your property is simple. Conveniently complete the registration through the online application on the city's website. Alternatively, download the Printable Form and submit it via email to RentalRegistration@rentonwa.gov or mail it to the Rental Registration team at Renton City Hall, Attn: Rental Registration, 1055 S. Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057.
Landlords and property managers must renew registration annually, and the deadline for renewal is January 31. As part of the application, owners will be asked to submit a Declaration of Compliance Checklist, ensuring that the property meets the necessary standards.
A City of Renton Business License is no longer required for property managers who do not have employees or engage in other business activities within city limits. For landlords who own multiple rental properties, please submit a separate application for each property.
If you are a Renton renter, please share this information with your landlord. If you are a property manager, please complete the application promptly at rentonwa.gov/rentalregistration.
Help create a safe and thriving community for both renters and property owners.
Help shape the city budget for 2025-2026 in Renton
The City of Renton's Finance Department has begun building the biennial budget for 2025 and 2026. As part of this process, the city is conducting a community-wide budget survey with the help of independent researchers.
Through this process, the city will gain insights and feedback from residents on the direction and spending plan of the city for the upcoming two years. Thus far, many households have been directly contacted through mailed postcards, text messages, and emails with a link and unique ID to complete the survey.
In the online survey, participants can share their opinions on a variety of topics, including:
-
City budget priorities
-
Your satisfaction with city facilities
-
Transportation and safety initiatives
-
Overall perception of life in Renton
Input from community members is critical to understanding the current state of the city and future needs.
Please consider participating in this important civic process. If your household was not directly contacted, the survey will be available for the public starting June 12 at rentonwa.gov/budget.
