With spring and summer approaching, the city's Parks and Recreation Department is hiring for seasonal positions. The Parks and Recreation Department is currently hiring for part-time seasonal positions at Henry Moses Aquatic Center, Maplewood Golf Course, Renton Community Center, Highlands Neighborhood Center, Renton Farmers Market, and city parks.
These seasonal positions hold high importance in how the city upholds parks maintenance standards and the demands of spring and summer activities. Current open positions and details based on the upcoming season:

Parks Laborer or Boat Launch Attendant: These seasonal positions maintain city parks and trails and assist at the Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park boat launch. Work is performed outside. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. Hourly rates range from $20-$25, depending on experience.

Farmers Market Laborer: Plan & coordinate logistics, implement the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), assist with recruitment, develop and deliver communications materials, and help set up and tear down each market day. Applications are available starting April 1.

Maplewood Golf Course – Laborer: Assist grounds maintenance staff with setting up and maintaining Maplewood Golf Course. Work is performed outside. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Hourly rates range from $17-$20, depending on experience.

Lifeguards: A seasonal job opportunity for currently certified lifeguards (or those interested in becoming certified) at Henry Moses Aquatic Center and Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. Hourly rates range from $18-$26, depending on experience.

Guest Services: Welcome customers to Renton Community Center, Senior Center, and/or Henry Moses Aquatic Center, process entrance and rental fees, and assist customers in various ways. Hourly rates range from $16.50-$26, depending on experience.

Maplewood Golf Course – Outside Service: Provide cart attendance, monitor the driving range, and marshal services at Maplewood Golf Course. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Hourly rates range from $16.50-$20, depending on experience.

Recreation Leaders: Recreation Leaders assist our recreation staff with planning, preparing, and leading summer camps, athletic programs, events, and other recreation programs. Hourly rates range from $16.50-$26, depending on years of experience.

Apply now for the 2025-2026 Human Services Funding Collaborative Grant
Applications for the 2025-2026 Human Services Funding Collaborative (HSFC), are now available and open to organizations and non-profits that serve Renton residents with various needs, including basic needs, connector services, domestic violence/sexual assault services, economic opportunities, health and wellness, or homeless/housing services.
The city anticipates having $812,000 available in annual general fund human services agency funding for 2025-2026.
Applications are available via the online portal Share1App hosted by the City of Redmond. Applications must be submitted via the online portal by April 8.
To be considered for Renton funding, agencies must meet the following criteria:

Address one of the Renton human services funding priorities above.

Submit a complete application, including all attachments; No late or incomplete applications will be accepted or reviewed.

Request a minimum of $15,000 per program.

Meet minimum insurance requirements if awarded funds.

Execute a contract with the City and be able to accept reimbursement for funds.

Regularly track and submit required reports regarding services, demographics, and outcomes.
Once submitted, the city’s Human Services Advisory Committee will review and evaluate all applications. The Committee will rate proposals within each priority area based on program description, impact, accessibility, and budget. Funding recommendations will depend on the Committee scores, discussion, funding availability, and final approval by the Renton City Council. The awarded amount for individual programs may differ from the requested amount in the application.
The Human Services Division staff will be available on the following dates and times for drop-in sessions in person and virtually via Zoom to answer questions about the application:
- Thursday, March 21, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Tuesday, March 26, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Wednesday, April 3, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Join Renton's Small Business Empowerment Think Tank Series, an opportunity for local entrepreneurs, community leaders, and business enthusiasts to come together and collaborate on innovative ways to support small businesses in the Highlands Neighborhood. The next meeting is on March 15 at the Highlands Neighborhood Center at 9 a.m.
Brainstorm fresh avenues to uplift our small businesses and build a thriving local economy. This Think Tank series is just one way the city aims to empower small businesses while fostering collaboration within the community.
