Starting Friday, August 18, from 10 p.m. through Monday, August 21, 5 a.m., all northbound and southbound lanes on I-405 will be closed between Sunset Boulevard Northeast and Coal Creek Parkway as part of the I-405 Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project. Lane and ramp closures include:

During the final stages of the project, I-405 will again be closed in September. Starting at 5 a.m. on Friday, September 8, through Monday, September 11, 5 a.m., all northbound and southbound I-405 lanes will be closed between Coal Creek Parkway and Sunset Boulevard Northeast. Lane and ramp closures include:

Stage 2 Burn Ban effective immediately across King County
In response to continued hot and dry weather throughout King County, the King County Fire Chiefs Association and the Association of King County Fire Marshals have implemented a Stage 2 Burn Ban.
The ban prohibits all outdoor fires, including recreational campfires, pellet fire pits, cooking, and ceremonial fires. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.
The ban does not include propane or natural-gas-fired grills, fireplaces, fire tables, enclosed pellet cooking smokers, and other gas-fired appliances.

South King Housing and Homelessness Partners’ Housing Capital Fund: Investing $6 million in affordable housing
SKHHP recently announced the launch of the second year of the SKHHP Housing Capital Fund, with $6 million available to fund affordable housing. The fund invests in developing and preserving affordable homes within the community.
The city contributes annually to the fund to address the critical need for accessible housing options and create a thriving community for everyone in South King County.

Celebrate the new school year with Communities In Schools Renton-Tukwila Back-To-School Block Party this weekend
Communities In Schools Renton-Tukwila (CISRT) will host their annual Back-To-School Block Party on August 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Liberty Park, 1101 Bronson Way N. This free event is open to all students and families in Renton. The event will provide back-to-school necessities, including free haircuts, backpacks, school supplies, and more.

The Emergency Management Division values public input and actively seeks resident feedback on the city’s 2023 Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP).
