The Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center aligns with Renton's age-friendly city status by providing a warm, welcoming place where Renton seniors can enjoy each other's company while staying active and engaged with their community. Please take advantage of all they offer.
Rainier Avenue S Phase IV open house
Phase IV of the Rainier Avenue South improvement project will begin this spring.
If you’re interested in learning more about the project, attend the “Meet the Contractor” event on Wednesday, March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Commons at Renton High School (400 S 2nd St., 98057). The project team is holding an open house to discuss the construction schedule and work activities. They’ll also answer any questions you may have about construction impacts.
Project information can also be found on the city’s website. The page includes a link to sign up for a project newsletter. In addition, questions and comments can be directed to a project hotline, 425-224-2446, or info@rainierconstruction.org.
If you live, work, or own a business on Rainier Avenue S, please take our pre-construction survey. This survey will help us understand how you use the Rainier Avenue corridor.
Phase IV work will extend from S 3rd St. to NW 3rd Pl and create a safe, accessible, vibrant pedestrian environment. The improvements will enhance overall traffic operations through the corridor, help reduce collisions, and improve non-motorized and transit-based travel.
Improvements include:
- Extending southbound Bus Access and Transit Lane (BAT) from S 2nd St to S 3rd St
- Installing pedestrian-activated signals at SW Victoria St and NW 3rd Pl.
- Widening sidewalks, planting new streetscaping and improving street lighting
- Larger landscaped lane buffers and traffic medians
- Modifying intersections at S 2nd St & S 3rd St to accommodate future 2-way traffic
In addition to improvements on Rainier Ave S, crews will build a new segment of the Lake Washington Loop for people walking and biking north of Airport Way.
Construction will continue into mid-2025.
