Register Now for Winter classes! The 2012 Winter/Spring recreation guide is now available online. Registration is open for Renton residents and begins December 6 for non-residents.

Ivar's Clam Lights and Argosy Christmas Ship

Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park, Friday, December 2 at 6:15 pm

Start your holiday season off with entertainment, community spirit, and stunning visual effects. Music begins at 6:15 pm, official lighting ceremony at 7:15 pm and Rainier Yacht Club's Parade of Boats at 7:30 pm. The Argosy Christmas Ship makes its annual appearance from 8:00 to 8:20 pm

K-9 Candy Cane 5K Fun Run and Walk, Renton Community Center, Sunday, Dec. 4 at 9:00 am

Run or walk (with or without dogs). Fee is $30. Day of race registration is available but does not include a hooded sweatshirt. Visit signmeup.com/78108 to register.

The Joy of Giving

To make your community giving a little easier this year, check out the programs below.

Holiday Giving Trees:

Salvation Army Gift Tags and Gift of Play scholarships for those in need are available for adoption, simply stop by one of these locations and make your selection from the tree.

Renton City Hall, 1055 S. Grady Way

Renton Community Center, 1715 SE Maple Valley Highway

Please return the unwrapped gift with the gift tag taped to it, to either location no later than December 19.

Online donations make giving easy.

The public is encouraged to join with City of Renton employees to collect food and other donations for the Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank and the Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle and King County. Online donations information.

Parks, Planning and Natural Resources

The Renton City Council adopted the Parks, Recreation and Natural Areas Plan on November 7, 2011. This Plan is the culmination of a fourteen month public process that involved extensive public outreach and participation opportunities. The City is now eligible to apply for state grant assistance for up to six years as the State Recreation and Conservation Office has certified the plan. The City’s consultant was MIG, out of Portland, Oregon.

Facilities Division

Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations are coming soon!

Through a grant provided by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, electrical vehicle charging stations will be located at the City Center garage, City Hall, the Landing and the Renton Community Center.
