7/11: Green Day at the Renton Farmers Market

Upcycle Tshirt

Give your old t-shirts new life by turning them into reusable bags at the Renton Farmers Market on Tuesday, 7/11 from 3-7pm! This is a great way to repurpose used t-shirts and save on disposable bags at the store. Plus these one-of-a-kind bags can be washed and stuffed easily into purses or bags. So what are you waiting for—go pull those dusty t-shirts out of your closet!

Sewers and tutorials for sew and no-sew options will be available. Due to stretching, adult small or medium sized shirts will work the best as reusable bags. Kid sizes work great as kid totes or produce bags. Holes or rips can be repaired and stains near the sleeves can be cut out. T-shirt donations are happily accepted, for those who may not be able to bring a t-shirt.

2GoodToWaste
While you’re at the Market, check out the cooking demonstration with handy tips and free samples from 4pm-5pm! King County’s Food: Too Good To Waste program will be there to raise awareness around wasted food and the small shifts we can all make to throw out less food every day. With the average American household tossing out almost a quarter of the food they buy, we all can take steps to prevent or help others prevent food waste.

RummageSale

The Renton Farmers Market will hold its first Rummage Sale on Green Day to help our community’s reuse efforts. So be sure to swing by Market West and browse the Rummage Sale—you never know what you will find! More information is available at Renton Farmers Market or contact Carrie Olson at 425-430-7214 or info@rentonfarmersmarket.com.
