Free Repair for Household Items
If
you have small household items that are broken or clothing that need mending, don’t
throw them away! Save them from the landfill and give them new life by bringing
them to a King County repair group event. Experienced fixers can diagnose or
fix the problem and help you learn to repair, too. The next repair
events near Renton will be:
-
Wed, 3/22, 3-6:30pm at Skyway Library
-
Wed, 5/31, 3-6pm at Renton Library
Accepted are items small enough to be
carried by one person including small furniture, appliances, personal
electronics and textiles. Do not bring items that are leaking, dangerous,
contain gasoline or have a strong odor. Textiles should be washed and clean. If
applicable, bring materials or specific parts needed for the repair. You must
be present during the repair and there is no assurance an item can be fixed or
that attempting to fix it won’t break it even more.
More information and a list of all
repair events can be seen here. It is recommended that you sign up in advance with the item
you’ll be bringing so fixers can be prepared. To sign up, or for questions,
contact Tom Watson at tom.watson@kingcounty.gov or 206-477-4481.
