Online Registration Begins This Week

Online registration for the 2020-21 school year opens this week, starting with Early Childhood Programs. Parents and guardians may register children online following the timetable listed below.

June 1: Early Childhood Programs

June 4: Specialty Programs and Charter Schools

July 1: New Students

Class of 2020 Grads Honored with Virtual Celebration

Over the weekend, we hosted a virtual graduation celebration in honor of the Class of 2020, featuring a commencement address by Oxon Hill High School alum Taraji P. Henson and many other notables! The celebration is archived on the PGCPS YouTube channel and will air on PGCPS-TV (Comcast 96, Verizon 38) at a later date. Last Days of Schools for Students, Teachers

The last day of school for students will be June 15. Teachers will end the school year on June 17. 

Distance learning will conclude June 8. From June 9 to June 15, students will be allowed to complete make-up work as we transition to summer.

Virtual Summer Learning Programs

Our Virtual Summer Learning Programs offer students opportunities for acceleration, enrichment, credit recovery, or original credit during the summer. This summer, all programs will be offered virtually and there are no fees to participate.

QuARTantine: Student and Teacher Art on Display

Prince George's County Public Schools virtual art exhibit showcases student work created over the course of this school year. Students from early childhood to 12th grade are featured in this virtual exhibit. Meanwhile, works from teachers are on display in the Prince George's County Arts and Humanities Council's online gallery.

PGCPS Remains Top in the State for Green School Certification

PGCPS continues to lead the state with the most number of new Maryland Green Schools certifications!

This year, 10 schools earned certification and 30 schools were recertified, raising the total number of Green Schools to 131. Crossland High School, Chesapeake Math & IT (CMIT) Academy, CMIT North Middle School and Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School joined six elementary schools in earning first-time certification: Hillcrest Heights, Hollywood, James Ryder Randall, Judge Sylvania Woods, Mount Rainier and Rosa Parks.

Virtual Prince George's Area Science Fair (PGASF) Winners Announced

PGCPS conducted a virtual science fair to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of students as they completed STEM projects. PGCPS students took three of the top four slots!

Students in prekindergarten through fifth grades can tune in to daily instructional lessons on PGCPS-TV (Comcast channel 96, Verizon channel 38 and online)! View daily schedule.

Distance Learning Survey Released

Parents and students (grades 3-11) will have a chance to weigh in on issues under consideration for the 2020-21 school year through an online distance learning survey. Students should check their PGCPS-issued email accounts. Parents will receive an email to the address on file. The survey closes Friday, June 12.

Digital Library Resources

In the PGCPS Research Portal, students can find online encyclopedias, full-text articles, primary resources, videos, and more. Access the entire ebooks collection of PGCPS through SoraConnect the app to Prince George's County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) for one point of access. Students can access the list of usernames and passwords, contact their librarian and/or the Office of Library Media.

Grab-n-Go Play for Youth!

Each Friday from noon to 2 p.m., the Department of Parks and Recreation is offering free recreation materials including jump ropes, chalk, art kits, games and more! Participating locations include the Marlow Heights, Oakcrest and Glenarden community centers.

Virtual Summer Reading Program

The Washington Nationals and Prince George's County Memorial Library System have teamed up for an online-only summer reading and engagement program! The virtual “Summer @ Your Library” program will be hosted in English and Spanish for all ages and runs through Aug. 21.
