Class of 2020 Spirit Week begins today! Join us this week to send off our seniors with spirit! Show off your PGCPS pride on Wednesday, transform yourself into your dream self on Thursday and decorate your front door on Friday (prizes for top entries). Post photos on social media or send to communications@pgcps.org. 

Saturday: Class of 2020 eGraduation Celebration!

This weekend, we will host a systemwide virtual graduation celebration in honor of the Class of 2020 with a commencement address by Oxon Hill High School alum Taraji P. Henson! 

Who will be there: Other alums on board for the celebration include actor/comedian Martin Lawrence, R&B singer Kenny Lattimore; radio host/comedian Joe Clair; NFL cornerback Joe Haden and local news anchor Taylor Thomas. More surprises are in store! 

What to expect: The names of every grad will be displayed during the pre-recorded broadcast. Other highlights include senior shoutouts, photo flashbacks, musical tributes, valedictorians spotlight and messages from principals.


How to watch: The celebration will air Saturday, May 30 on WJLA 24/7 News (Comcast 808, FiOS 508, DirecTV/Dish 8) and Charge (Over-the-Air Channel 7.2) at 7 p.m. A replay is scheduled for the following day, Sunday, May 31, at noon on ABC7. The event will also be streamed live on the PGCPS website and Facebook page. Simultaneous Spanish audio of the celebration will be available during the airing on May 30. Listen in at that time by calling 508-924-5155. The celebration will be archived on the PGCPS YouTube channel and will air on PGCPS-TV (Comcast 96, Verizon 38) at a later date.

In the PGCPS Research Portal, students can find online encyclopedias, full-text articles, primary resources, videos, and more. Access the entire ebooks collection of PGCPS through Sora! Connect the app to Prince George's County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) for one point of access. Students can access the list of usernames and passwords, contact their librarian and/or the Office of Library Media.

Grab-n-Go Play for Youth!

Each Friday from noon to 2 p.m., the Department of Parks and Recreation is offering free recreation materials including jump ropes, chalk, art kits, games and more! Participating locations include the Marlow Heights, Oakcrest and Glenarden community centers.

County Stay-At-Home Order Extended to June 1

COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions for Prince George’s County have been extended through June 1. Residents should continue to stay home except for essential activities, such as going to the grocery store, picking up prescriptions, and going to medical appointments.
