Next Weekend: Class of 2020 eGraduation Celebration!

On Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, we will host a systemwide virtual graduation celebration in honor of the Class of 2020 with a commencement address by Oxon Hill High School alum Taraji P. Henson! The celebration will air on ABC7 News. 

Submit a Shout-Out for the eGraduation!

High school seniors are invited to submit a video shout-out to be included in the May 30 and May 31 eGraduation Celebration broadcasts! Submissions must be 30 seconds or less, well-lit, contain no profane language or music and include the student's name and school plus a message to fellow grads and/or teachers! Submissions can be sent to communications@pgcps.org.

Family and friends of the Class of 2020 can also get involved in next weekend's eGraduation Celebration by tweeting congratulations to their favorite senior during the broadcast. Please use the hashtag #PGCPS2020Grads.

Distance Learning Updates

Distance Learning Still in Session!

Although schools are closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, our distance learning program will continue through the end of the school year. The last day of school for students is June 16. Plans for summer academic enrichment and what to expect in the fall are forthcoming.

New Meal Sites + Supper Now Available

2020 Census: Virtual Town Hall

Join the County Census team and Congressman Anthony Brown for a Census Town Hall on Monday, May 18 at 6 p.m. Participants must register in advance to receive the access code. 

On Hold: 2020-21 School Year Registrations

Due to COVID-19 and continued school building closures, registration for prekindergarten, kindergarten, transitional and lottery programs is on hold. Updates will be provided as available. 

Grab-n-Go Play for Youth!

Each Friday from noon to 2 p.m., the Department of Parks and Recreation is offering free recreation materials including jump ropes, chalk, art kits, games and more! Participating locations include the Marlow Heights, Oakcrest and Glenarden community centers.

The County's 2020 Summer Youth Enrichment Program has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Q3/Q4 Grade Change Window Extension

The Maryland State Board of Education approved a statewide waiver extending the grade change window for third and fourth quarter to January 1, 2021. In addition, all students who receive an Incomplete (I) grade for fourth quarter will have an opportunity to make up the work missed, once school reopens in the fall, for a Pass (P) grade.

County Stay-At-Home Order Extended to June 1

COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions for Prince George’s County have been extended through June 1. Residents should continue to stay home except for essential activities, such as going to the grocery store, picking up prescriptions, and going to medical appointments.
