Teacher-In-Space: Remembering Christa McAuliffe

This week marked 34 years since the space shuttle Challenger exploded during liftoff killing all seven crew members on board, including Christa McAuliffe, a former PGCPS educator who was supposed to be the first Teacher in Space. McAuliffe taught in Prince George's County from 1971 to 1978.

Seniors Awarded UMBC Scholarships


Three seniors received the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Chief Executive Officer’s Scholarship for academic excellence! Jonathan Kampia (Academy of Health Sciences), Igolo Ohalete (Charles H. Flowers High School) and Ayyub Abdulrezak (Eleanor Roosevelt High School) each received scholarships of nearly $50,000.
