Maryland County Executives Support School Construction Bill

Top local officials in Maryland's most populated counties gathered Thursday to support a measure to steer significantly more money to school construction in the state. Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks highlighted the need by describing Forest Heights Elementary, a 90-year-old school in her county, where students and teachers had to relocate because the building was considered unsafe.>> Read more.


Help Inform Students About the 2020 Census

In less than two months, families will begin receiving information in the mail to complete the 2020 Census which determines federal funding for our schools, transportation and other public services that directly impact our communities. Help inform students of the importance of this once-in-ten-year event by sharing this quick and fun video about who gets counted and why it matters!

PGCPS Support Staff Participate in Leadership Workshop

A group of PGCPS aspiring leaders recently completed the Support Staff Aspiring Leaders Program (SSALP) which provides opportunities that include experiential activities designed to meet the needs of those who are currently serving in a leadership position and those who aspire to pursue a leadership position.


To nominate a colleague who makes you #PGCPSProud, send their name, office/school, photo (optional) and a brief description (100 words or less) to communications@pgcps.org. Submissions may be edited for length, clarity or grammar.

On February 19, PGCPS will celebrate Random Act of Kindness Day! Here are ways to show your appreciation for your colleagues:

In Memory of Bus Driver Anita Ellis

Our deepest condolences are extended to the family, friends and colleagues of Anita Ellis, a PGCPS bus driver who lost her life in a fire on Jan. 18. 

A fire in your home can be one of the most upsetting and uprooting events in your life. If you are a resident of Prince George's County, the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department will come visit your home and conduct a FREE Fire Safety Advisory Inspection and install a free smoke alarm. You can dial 311 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or call 301-864-SAFE(7233) after hours. 


Information Session: La Salle University and Regional Training Center

Spark Student Creativity: Minecraft Education Challenge

Join the Technology Training Team by taking on this year's Minecraft in Education Challenge. Engage your students with collaboration and creativity by using Minecraft: Education Edition to design a new module for the International Space Station and describe the hypothetical scientific experiments you will run.Training will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23 or Wednesday, Jan. 29.
