Schools Celebrate Men Make a Difference Day

This week, schools across PGCPS welcomed dads, grandads and special guests into the classroom to celebrate the integral role men play in strong schools and student achievement.

To ensure a well-rounded instructional experience for all students, we're in the process of developing a new homework administrative procedure for implementation next school year. The survey is open to parents, students, teachers, instructional staff and administrators and community childcare providers. Deadline: October 25.

Students Build Sports Gear for Peers with Disabilities

At Kenmoor Middle School, students are learning lessons in engineering, math and science while creating inclusive solutions for peers with disabilities.

CODE-E Robot Offers Lessons on Digital Future


Students at Vansville Elementary and Charles H. Flowers High School's Academy of Finance had a chance to interact with robot CODE-E, that teaches students about emerging technologies to prepare them for a tech-powered workplace.

Laurel HS Students Inducted Into National Honor Society


Laurel High School students recently were inducted into its chapter of Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, a national organization recognizing high school juniors and seniors for excellence in social sciences. Laurel was first in the county to open a chapter.

Next Week! College Application Night


College Application Night is an opportunity for high school seniors and families to receive guidance applying to college and speak with college and university admissions counselors for possible on-site admittance and waived application fees. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Largo High School from 6 - 9 p.m.

National School Bus Safety Week

National School Bus Safety Week is a chance to say "thank you" to the nearly 2,000 school bus drivers and attendants who transport children safely to and from school each day. Share your appreciation for a special bus driver or attendant on social media with #PGCPSBSW19!

Community Listening Sessions Continue Next Week


CEO Dr. Monica Goldson wants to hear from you! Share your ideas, concerns and solutions at sessions to be held on Oct. 21 at Laurel High School and Nov. 5 at Fairmont Heights High School.

High school seniors interested in government, politics, law or community service are invited to apply for the 2019 Maryland General Assembly Student Page Program. The application deadline is Oct. 25.

Glenarden Woods Awarded National Blue Ribbon, LEED


Glenarden Woods Elementary was named a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education after receiving the state blue ribbon last year. Additionally, the school recently earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold certification through the United States Green Building Council.
