Applications for middle school and high school specialty programs for the 2020-2021 school year are now open! Planning to apply? Be sure to first check out our FAQs! Deadline: November 15

Specialty Program FAQ

Also, save the date for our Specialty Program Showcases to learn more about programs of interest! The showcase for high school programs is October 16 and elementary and middle school program showcase is October 17.

Prekindergarten Seats Available!

For a limited time, all families can register their child for prekindergarten at select program sites with no income restrictions! Prekindergarten is open to children who turned four years old on or before September 1, 2019.

Six New Middle Schools Slated for Construction

The Board of Education approved a resolution outlining the construction of six new PGCPS middle schools. Drew-Freeman, Hyattsville, Kenmoor and Walker Mill Middle Schools will be rebuilt. Additionally, a new middle school will be built in the Adelphi area as well as one in the southern part of the county.

Schools will be closed for students next Friday, Sept. 27 for professional development. (This was previously scheduled as an early dismissal but was updated by the Board of Education as a closure).


Immunization Deadline Next Week/Clinics Available

Students who are not in compliance with immunizations will be excluded from school effective Tuesday, Sept. 24! To assist families, we're offering free clinics at the Northwestern High School Wellness Center on Monday, Sept. 23 and Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 8:30 a.m. -  4 p.m.

Berwyn Heights Elementary sixth-graders have traveled to North Bay Adventure Camp every year since 2006. This year, amid rising costs for the trip, teacher Bret Goldstein launched a Donors Choose project and rode his bicycle 100 miles in hopes of raising enough funds to continue the tradition!
