Pay Date Notice

The July 12 pay period includes one week in June calculated at 2018-19 pay rates and one week based on new pay rates, effective July 1. Thanks to the following groups for their collaboration and hard work in implementing the various negotiated compensation improvements: Labor Partners, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology departments.

Quick Tips for the Long Summer Workdays

The four-day work week is in full swing as we head into Week Three on Monday. Here are some helpful tips to help you get through the longer workday:

  • Don't skip breakfast.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Smile! 
  • Manage your time wisely — knock out important tasks early. 
  • Stay positive!
  • Don't eat and work. Take a break and focus on your meal!

As a reminder, the four-day work week will end Aug. 9.

Adapted Physical Education Team Shares Best Practices in Peru

Peru

Members of the Adapted Physical Education team were in Peru this week to provide professional development and training as envoys from the State Department.

Instructional specialist John White was joined by Frances Fuchs Early Childhood Center teacher Ken Kitchelt and Buck Lodge Middle School/High Point High School teacher Lisa Belcastro. The trio shared information about special education and Adapted PE in PGCPS with Special Olympics Peru, the Peru Paralympic Committee, various national teams and other representatives from Peru and the city of Lima.


Hillcrest Heights Teacher Receives Professional Development Award

Hillcrest Heights Elementary School teacher Teresa Hayden has received the Maurice Erly Professional Development Award from the Support Education Foundation for positively impacting student success. Hayden, along with 10 educators statewide, will receive $1,000 to use towards continuing education fees. The Support Education Foundation is the nonprofit arm of the Educational Systems Federal Credit Union (ESFCU).

Erly, the award's namesake, was a former PGCPS Coordinating Supervisor of Staff Development and member of the credit union's Board of Directors. He died in 2014.

Professional Development Opportunities and Announcements 

NEW: ASASP Tuition Reimbursement 

ASASP employees who have completed eligible coursework between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019 may apply for tuition reimbursement. Applications and payments will be processed online in the order they are received until all funds are depleted.

Requests must be submitted through the online tuition reimbursement platform, starting July 29 at 5 a.m. through Aug. 5. at 11:59 p.m. Reimbursement forms can be found on Staff Portal under the Applications tab (Tuition Reimbursement Requests).
