Graduation Rates Audit Info Available Online

In June, CEO Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell and Prince George’s County Board of Education members requested an audit by the Maryland State Department of Education of high school graduation rates throughout Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). It's not too late to attend a day of interactive learning at the 21st Annual Powering up with Technology Conference on Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Oxon Hill High School.

Enjoy the Digital Innovation Lab where you can experience a virtual trip around the world, three-dimensional printing, coding activities, student-led Mini Maker Festival and much more! The conference will also feature noted author and classroom teacher Alice Keeler, who has transformed learning through the use of Google. Hear her inspiring keynote "We Teach the Future!" and experience her advanced Google Classroom Workshop.

Registration is $25 (check or money order only). Payments will be accepted at the conference.

Family Institute Volunteers Needed!

Volunteer opportunities are available for the 2nd Annual Family Institute Conference, "Ignite SPARKS for Student Success, on Nov. 18 at Northwestern High School from 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Sign up today!

Conference registration is now open for attendees. The conference will feature educator/author Ron Clark, founder of Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta. Family Institute focuses on the importance of families in strengthening school communities from the perspective of parents and PGCPS staff. Visit the Family Institute conference webpage for more details.

Oxon Hill High School culinary arts teacher Rolston "Ian" Barthley is a contestant on the Food Network's "Holiday Baking Championship" where nine bakers must create tantalizing new holiday treats for seasonal parties. Episode 1 will replay Nov. 11 at 1 p.m., Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. Congratulations, Chef!
