Providing Language Access for Effective Communication with Parents on Nov. 10

language access

Parent-Teacher conferences are on Friday, Nov. 10. The Office of Interpreting and Translation/Office of Diversity can provide language support to help teachers communicate with parents.

School staff can also utilize the Language Link telephonic interpreting service to support language access for parent teacher conferences. The telephonic interpreting service accommodates a higher than usual call volume, and school staff can access interpretation via speaker phone.

Please note that students may not serve as interpreters for parent meetings, according to the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Interpreting and Translation/Office of Diversity at 301-408-5511 or You can also join the Office of Diversity Affairs Staff Portal Community Page for information.
