PGCPS Continues Focus on Student Safety

Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) is committed to providing safe and supportive learning environments for students and staff. Our recent improvements to administrative procedures and staff training have strengthened our school safety efforts and reduced the number of staff on administrative leave.

25M Grant Award

$25M Grant Will Improve Teacher Recruitment and Retention at 40 High-Needs Schools

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) will receive a three-year, $25 million U.S. Department of Education grant to improve teacher hiring, placement, support and retention, focusing on 40 high-needs schools. 

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen announced the “Great Teachers, Great Leaders, Great Schools” grant Monday during a news conference at Greenbelt Middle School. Funds for the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program grant – one of the largest-ever awarded to Prince George’s County schools – will also be used to develop better evaluation tools and data management systems. Inside PGCPS Football with PG 13

Monday Night Football, PGCPS-style: Watch PG 13, a series about PGCPS high school football that takes you inside locker rooms and classrooms. This season will air Mondays at 7 p.m. All 13 episodes will be broadcast on PGCPS social media channels, pgcps.org and PGCPS-TV 96 (Comcast) and 38 (Verizon).

Save the Date for the 2nd Annual Family Institute Conference

November 18 • 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. • Northwestern HS

The 2nd Annual Family Institute Conference features interactive sessions for families, students, PGCPS staff and community members. Free breakfast and snacks, and childcare will be provided for families who pre-register. Service providers and vendor on site, and plenty of free giveaways! Free College Workshop: Estudios Universitarios

October 21 • 9 a.m. - noon • University of Maryland Stamp Student Union

Spanish-speaking middle and high school students and families are encouraged to attend Estudios Universitarios, a free college and career readiness workshop. The event will include a bilingual college fair, community agency fair, campus tours and information about the Maryland Dream Act. Sign up for the event here.
