Oct. 20 Duty Day for Unit 1 Employees

The 2017-2018 school calendar designates Friday, Oct. 20 as a full professional development day with schools closed for students.

The annual Maryland State Education Association (MSEA) conference date (Oct. 20) was changed from a non-duty day for 10- and 11-month Unit I employees to a duty day. Unit I employees are expected to participate in professional development of their choice on that day. This may include the MSEA Conference, another state-approved professional development activity, or a professional development session at their school.

As usual, the MSEA conference date is a work day for 12-month employees. Other non-Unit I 10- and 11-month employees should treat this day as any other non-student day.

For more information, please contact the Office of Communications at 301-952-6001.
