March 27 is Mentored Youth Trout Day Statewide
Take part in the Commission’s only Mentored Youth Trout Day for 2021. Youth under the age of 16 can join a mentor (adult) angler who has a current fishing license and trout permit to fish on Saturday, March 27, on stocked trout waters statewide. Youth (less than 16 years of age) must obtain a Mentored Youth Fishing Permit or Voluntary Youth Fishing License from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. All Voluntary Youth Fishing Licenses purchased last season remain valid and will be honored during the 2021 season. To obtain licenses and permits, go to www.fishandboat.com.

Early Spring Means Thin Ice
Safety should always be your number one priority when heading out onto the water or ice. Spring temperatures mean thin ice. So, ice fishing is not recommended during the early spring when ice is thinner and less structurally sound. Ice is also inconsistent, increasing chances of falls on and through the ice.
