Celebrating 10 years and 10 million rides on MAX Red Line to PDX
Millions of airline travelers, airport employees and visitors have taken the Red Line to and from Portland International Airport in the light rail line's 10 years of service. MAX Red Line was the first train-to-plane connection on the West Coast. It was completed a year earlier than expected and within budget. It was built through a unique public/private partnership with Bechtel Enterprises, who in 1997 proposed to construct a MAX extension to PDX.

A.K. Rucker:
Taking the first step to keep kids out of gangs
A.K. Rucker, a TriMet bus operator for 30 years, started TriMet's "First Step" program 13 years ago. The First Step program is an intensive 10-week program where at-risk youth, ages 14 to 18, get the opportunity to have a summer job and learn responsibility and the value of hard work. For A.K., the program is about showing the kids the community, and showing them another option other than gangs.

Back-to-school safety reminder
Do you have kids heading back to school soon? Remind them not to cross the street in front of a TriMet bus, unless it's stopped at a traffic light. Always use the crosswalk, and look both ways before crossing train tracks.

What year was it?
Ronald Reagan was President of the United States, Terry Porter and Clyde Drexler dominated the Portland Trail Blazers, "Say You, Say Me" by Lionel Richie was the number one hit single on the Billboard Hot 100, and MAX Blue Line first rolled out with light rail service between Gresham and Portland.
Take a guess!
Service changes effective Sept. 4
Effective Sunday, September 4, we will be making schedule and/or route adjustments. This is in effort to relieve passenger crowding, to provide more reliable service, and to match service with ridership levels. There will be new schedules on 24 bus lines and MAX Blue Line.

Fare changes effective Sept. 1
To offset the increasing cost of providing transit service, some TriMet fares will increase Thursday, September 1. Part of the increase will support some service restoration on 10 bus lines and MAX Blue Line to help relieve crowding. At the request of riders, we're also introducing a new 30-Day Pass, valid for 30 days from the date of purchase.
