👀 What Happens to the Type 1s Now? 👀

After nearly 40 years of service, the original trains are broken down at Radius Recycling so their materials can live on in other projects. You can see the process in this video, but be warned that it can be hard to watch 🥹

Will any of the trains be saved?

We donated light rail vehicle “101” to the Oregon Electric Railway Museum in July 2025, ensuring this special part of transit history is preserved for generations to come. The museum is located in Brooks, Oregon, about 38 miles south of Portland via Interstate 5.

🚌 More Funding for Faster Buses 🚌

Thanks to new federal funding secured by Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, traffic signal improvements will speed up trips on lines 6 and 14!

Maxine Dexter steps off a TriMet bus onto the sidewalk, with another passenger visible behind her and trees in the background.

Five signals on MLK Boulevard from North Lombard Street to Northeast Killingsworth Street, as well as 12 signals along the Foster Road/50th Avenue corridor, from Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard to 82nd Avenue, will receive transit signal priority upgrades.

This means buses will get more frequent green lights and shorter red lights, improving traffic flow and leading to faster and more reliable trips for riders.
