🚌 Service Cuts 🚌

We know you depend on us, and service cuts are always our last resort. But with rising costs and less money coming in, we must reduce spending now to avoid more severe cuts down the road, which would affect many more riders.

In July 2025, we announced a $300 million annual budget gap. We have already reduced spending by about $150 million and that’s before the larger service changes and cuts we’re now proposing. We reduced spending mostly through cutting internal expenses, reducing staff and pausing future bus service increases.

Our new service change proposals center on network efficiency, combining lines or reducing where lines run near others. We propose eliminating some bus lines and moving routes to maintain as much service as possible. This focuses our service investment where it is needed and used most. While we are keeping frequency on higher used lines, some proposals reduce how often buses arrive at times when fewer people are riding.

Go to trimet.org/servicecuts to learn more about the service cuts, share your feedback and help us shape the future of our transit service. The survey closes this Saturday, January 31 at 5 p.m.

This upcoming Wednesday, February 4, we’ll be honoring Rosa Parks and her contributions to the civil rights movement. We will not be collecting fares on our buses, MAX and LIFT.

Portland Streetcar and C-TRAN will also join us in not collecting fares.

🧼 Keeping Your Ride Clean
🧼

Keeping our buses clean and ready to roll into service helps create a comfortable and consistent experience for our riders. Before our buses even hit the road, there’s a team working hard to help keep them looking good, in top shape and fueled for service.

From deep cleaning to fueling vehicles, our Bus Maintenance service workers are the behind-the-scenes heroes doing this important work every single day.

🎉 New SPOT Southwest Microtransit Service 🎉

Washington County’s new, on-demand public transit service SPOT Southwest is now available in Beaverton and Tigard! It’s a free, easy way to get around Southwest Beaverton and River Terrace, places where TriMet doesn’t currently serve. SPOT also takes you to Cooper Mountain Nature Park.

Catch the SPOT Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Just use the app or call to book a same-day ride within the service area and SPOT picks you up right outside. SPOT uses small shuttles that are ADA-accessible and have bike racks, so everyone can ride.

Traveling to the area? Just take TriMet bus lines 43, 45, 56, 76 or 78 to Washington Square Transit Center and use the SPOT Ride app to connect to SPOT Southwest.
