📨 Service Cuts Survey & Open Houses 🏠

Due to a growing budget gap, we must cut some TriMet service starting in November 2025. Share your feedback to help us shape the future of our transit service.

You can also attend one of our upcoming open houses.

🚊 MAX Gets Improvements 🚊

We're making improvements to two separate sections of the MAX system in October that require service disruptions for eastside riders.

🔵🟢🔴 MAX Blue, Green and Red lines will be disrupted along Interstate 84, between the Rose Quarter Transit Center and Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center on Sunday, October 12.

Shuttle buses will replace MAX Blue, Green and Red Line trains, arriving at closed stations approximately every seven minutes for most of the day. Please plan extra time for your trips through the disrupted area.

🔴 MAX Red Line service will be disrupted between Gateway Transit Center and Portland International Airport from Monday, October 13 through Saturday, October 18.

Shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains, running approximately every 15 minutes for most of the day. Riders heading to and from Portland International Airport should plan extra time for their trips and expect shuttle buses to be crowded.

🚌 New Bus Shelters 🚌

Say "hello!" to one of our new bus shelters! We have three new shelter types we're rolling out to replace our existing ones. We've also got new, bigger shelters coming to our transit centers to accommodate more people.

This is the first one to be installed, at NE 122nd and Multnomah for Line 73-122nd Ave riders. Others will be installed on our busiest bus lines in Portland to start, then we hope to add them to other lines over the next decade. The new shelters will replace our oldest shelters (some are over 20 years old!).

It has been 30 years since we updated our shelters' design. Here's what makes these new shelters awesome:

  • A more open design
  • Lighting and transit arrival screens powered by solar at some locations
  • More overhead coverage to keep riders out of the elements
  • Durable and shatter-resistant polycarbonate on some shelters
  • Removable panels to improve circulation
  • Locally made

More to come!

🎂 10 Years of Tilikum Crossing 🎉

September marked the 10-year anniversary of Tilikum Crossing, which opened September 12, 2015! 🎉

In this video, a MAX test train rolls over the bridge for the first time. Engineers were making sure that the overhead catenary system worked to supply power to the trains and signals. The first test trains traveled at walking speed 🚶

Tilikum Crossing is the first multi-modal bridge in the United States that carries light rail, streetcar, buses, bicyclists and pedestrians, but no private vehicles 🌉 And it's our favorite bridge of all time! 😍
