Asking for feedback on service cuts

TriMet is asking the public to weigh in on service reductions we plan to make in 2026 and 2027. While we never want to cut service, we must act now to avoid hitting a “fiscal cliff” in the coming years.

Starting Nov. 30, buses will arrive less often on certain lines, at times when fewer people are riding. Additional cuts will follow in 2026 and 2027. Learn more and share your thoughts at trimet.org/servicecuts.

Preparing for MAX service disruptions

Heads up for MAX riders! Work to improve the MAX system will temporarily disrupt the Blue, Green and Red lines next month! Plan ahead:

  • Sunday, Oct. 12: MAX Blue, Green and Red lines will be disrupted between the Rose Quarter and Gateway transit centers for one day only. Shuttle buses will serve all stations between Rose Quarter and Gateway
  • Monday, Oct. 13-Saturday, Oct. 18: MAX Red Line only will be disrupted between Gateway and the Portland International Airport MAX Station. Shuttle buses will serve all stations between Gateway and PDX.

Read more here about what we’re working on, and how to get around during the disruptions!

Moving buses off the Broadway Bridge

The Broadway Bridge will close for construction starting Monday, Oct. 13. This bridge is used by Line 17-Holgate/Broadway. Due to the bridge closure, we’re moving Line 17 onto a new route that will use the Steel Bridge instead. This route change also adds more service at the Rose Quarter Transit Center.

Know before you go! Check trimet.org/alerts for the latest service information before heading out.

Strengthening public safety on transit

The Portland Police Bureau has officially rejoined TriMet’s Transit Police Division, contributing five officers and one sergeant to the multi-agency public safety team. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office remains the law enforcement lead — the role it has held since 2021.

Learn more here about how the City of Portland’s partnership with TriMet will improve public safety on transit.

Commemorating a transit champion

The next time you walk, roll or ride across Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People, keep an eye out for two new plaques honoring former Congressman Earl Blumenauer.

Through his more than 50-year career in public service — including as a State Representative, Multnomah County Commissioner and Portland City Councilor — Congressman Blumenauer played a vital role in fostering the walkable, bike-friendly and transit-accessible community we enjoy today.

Did you know? Celebrating 10 years of Tilikum Crossing

On Sept. 12, Tilikum Crossing marked 10 years of serving TriMet and Portland Streetcar riders, pedestrians and cyclists! Weeks before it officially opened, in 2015, we let about 40,000 to 50,000 community members go across the bridge early for The People’s Preview.

Inspectors who examined Tilikum Crossing earlier this year found it is in great shape, so it can continue to serve our region for generations to come. Check out this video to learn more!
