Adjusting MAX and bus schedules Aug. 24

New schedules for all MAX lines and many bus lines take effect this Sunday. We’re also adjusting some bus routes and moving stop locations at the Beaverton, Oregon City and Tigard transit centers. The Skidmore Fountain MAX Station closes permanently as we speed up service through Downtown Portland.

With these changes, MAX arrival times will shift by as much as 8 minutes! Avoid surprises: Check trimet.org before your next trip and visit trimet.org/servicechange for more information.

Preparing for tunnel improvements

The section of our MAX system that travels through the deepest transit station in North America will shut down for track and overhead wire improvements next month. Work in the tunnel under Washington Park will temporarily disrupt service on the MAX Blue and Red lines.

Shuttle buses will run in place of trains between the Sunset Transit Center and Providence Park MAX Station from Sept. 7-13. Plan up to 45 minutes of extra time for trips, and learn more here.

Making the case for transit

The Oregon Legislature will return to Salem next week for a special session dedicated to transportation funding. Included in the proposal is a 0.1% increase in the employee payroll tax that supports transit service.

We’re already preparing to reduce service to address our budget shortfall, but service cuts will be more severe if lawmakers fail to act.

Inviting feedback on our language plan

We’re accepting feedback until Sept. 15 on our draft language access plan. This plan guides our efforts to break down language barriers and ensure our transit service is welcoming for all, including riders who speak languages other than English.

Learn more and submit your feedback at languageaccess@trimet.org. The public comment period closes Monday, Sept. 15.

Did you know? Going back to school

The new school year is nearly here! For thousands of students in our service area, including all of the high schoolers in Portland Public Schools, the TriMet bus is the school bus.

The first day of school will also be many students’ first time on transit. We put together a blog that we call “TriMet 101” to help them get off to a good start. Learn how to plan trips, track your bus or train, and find out why you need to tap your school ID to the Hop reader every time you ride. Check it out and share the link with your teen, so they’ll be ready to roll on day one.

Get involved! Upcoming meetings

The Committee on Accessible Transportation will hold its next business meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17.
