Cutting the ribbon on a new bus line!

TriMet’s newest bus line – Line 86-148th Ave – rolls into service on Sunday, June 1. We teamed up with the nonprofit, Relay Resources, to cut the ribbon on the new line, which stops right outside their door.

Line 86 -- a north-south line in outer East Portland – runs between the Lents and Columbia Corridor areas with stops along Foster Road and 148th Avenue.

fleet week ship on the waterfront

Welcoming Fleet Week ships

Portland Fleet Week is a beloved part of the Rose Festival, and it comes with an important heads-up for riders: Be prepared for delays as bridges are lifted for the big ships’ arrivals and departures. Plan extra time June 3-4 and again on June 9. All MAX lines and some buses that cross the Willamette will be temporarily disrupted when the Steel and Morrison bridges are raised.

ne 82nd ave max station makeover

Making a better MAX station

We’re making over the NE 82nd Ave MAX Station! It is one of our oldest, most used stations. To make way for the months-long improvement project, we need to set up a temporary platform and staircase on the opposite side of 82nd to keep riders moving during the work. MAX Blue, Green and Red lines will be disrupted Sunday, June 8 and Monday, June 9 to make this happen. Check out trimet.org/improvements to learn more.

Adopting a budget for our next fiscal year

Our Board of Directors has adopted a $1.96 billion budget for our next fiscal year. It continues TriMet’s mission of providing safe, reliable transportation service that connects people to opportunities and benefits everyone by reducing traffic congestion and pollution. The budget also tightens spending to help address a projected deficit in the year ahead and a fiscal shortfall in 2031.

code enforcement safety and security

Did you know? Increasing ridership and safety — at the same time

With the COVID-19 pandemic in the rear view mirror, TriMet ridership is up for the fourth straight year. As we welcome aboard more riders, calls for police service have declined. Police activity on TriMet has decreased by 40% since 2022, while ridership has increased by about 30%.

If you haven’t been on board in a while, come take a ride with TriMet! We’re continually working to provide a safe, reliable and welcoming transit system for all, with historic cleaning efforts, preventative maintenance, and safety and security investments.
