Riding for free on New Year’s Eve

Heading out on the town for New Year’s Eve? Make TriMet part of the celebration! Our long-running tradition of providing free rides after 8 p.m. returns on Tuesday, Dec. 31. We’re also extending MAX service hours into the early morning hours of New Year’s Day 2025.

Our partners at C-TRAN and Portland Streetcar are also lifting fares to help keep everyone safe. Take transit to and from the festivities — and never drink and drive.

winter trimet chains prepare

Preparing for winter weather

Winter officially arrives this weekend, and TriMet is ready! We have more than 68 tons of deicer on hand, five sets of tire chains for each of our 650+ buses, and a big new machine to help clear MAX tracks of snow and debris! When freezing temps or snowflakes appear in the forecast, we also ask our riders to do their part:

  • Plan ahead
  • Give yourself extra time
  • Dress warmly
  • Always check trimet.org/alerts before you go!

Be ready before the storm hits! Sign up for service alerts at trimet.org/email.

clean team

Still going strong: our 'Clean Team'

More stations are being power washed, more surfaces are being scrubbed and more litter is being removed from our system than ever before, thanks to the ongoing efforts of our  'Clean Team.'

They are on track to pressure wash MAX stations more than 2,000 times in 2024. That's a feat never before accomplished. See the work that goes into sprucing up the system, for you!

Timbers thorns ticket 2 ride promo

Kicking off another great partnership in 2025 and 2026

We all love to cheer on our favorite team at Providence Park. But driving isn’t the best way to get there. Traffic can be heavy, finding a parking spot is a pain and those match-day parking fees? Forget about it. There’s a better way to go: TriMet!

Your ticket to any Portland Timbers or Portland Thorns home game is valid fare on TriMet buses and MAX for up to three hours before and after the game. New for 2025: Providence Park concert tickets will also be accepted as fare on TriMet! Learn more at trimet.org/providencepark.
