Line 25 bus at a Mt. Hood Community College bus stop

Giving students a ride in East Multnomah County

For thousands of students in our service area, the school bus isn’t yellow — it’s TriMet blue. More than 4 in every 5 TriMet bus lines serve at least one high school or college campus. Among the latest to join that group is Line 25-Glisan/Troutdale Rd. We extended Line 25 in August, adding service to Reynolds High School, Mt. Hood Community College and other destinations in East Multnomah County. Line 25 is now the only bus with a stop on Mt. Hood’s campus. About 30,000 people live within one-quarter mile of the extended Line 25. See why one administrator calls it a “game-changer” in this video.

Line 81 will come more frequently, with new weekend service between TRIP and Gresham. Line 80 will be discontinued.

Improving bus service in December

More Forward Together bus service improvements are coming to East Multnomah County! Starting Sunday, Dec. 1, we’re adding more buses and introducing weekend service to Line 81-Kane/257th. We’re also making a small route adjustment to serve more people in Gresham.  With these changes, we will discontinue Line 80 due to low ridership, and with Line 81 providing service to the area.

Some schedules will also be adjusted to help keep buses on time. Visit trimet.org/servicechange for details and go to trimet.org and plan a trip for Dec. 1 or later to see how you might be affected.

Three Hop Transit Fare Card Machines inside a TriMet warehouse

Introducing a new way to get on board with Hop

It will soon be easier to get your hands on a Hop card. We’re rolling out new transit card vending machines, starting with five select MAX stations. The machines allow riders to buy and/or reload plastic Hop cards at MAX stations and transit centers, replacing the single-day-use Hop paper tickets dispensed by ticket vending machines today. See how the new machines work in this video.

Dedicating our new transit mobility center to a disability advocate

TriMet’s new Jan Campbell Transit Mobility Center opens for service on Monday, Nov. 25. The facility has moved from Portland’s Old Town neighborhood to an easier-to-access location at Northeast 7th and Holladay.

The mobility center plays an important role in the application process for TriMet’s LIFT Paratransit Service. It’s named for lifelong disability advocate Jan Campbell. Campbell helped establish TriMet’s Committee on Accessible Transportation (CAT) nearly 40 years ago and has spent her life helping to create change in our community and on our transit system that empowers the independence and well being of people with disabilities.

Testing ‘domes’ to help cars stay off MAX tracks

Are you one of the more than 2 million people who watched this Instagram reel about our new traffic domes? We’re testing out new larger white domes — or traffic buttons — to see if they help cars stay out of the way of our MAX trains. If they work, you’ll see more of them going in along some of the oldest parts of the MAX system in Downtown Portland. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to get updates like this, sent right to your feed.

Celebrating Native American Heritage and History

November is National Native American Heritage Month. Keep an eye out for our 2024 cultural celebration bus honoring Native American heritage and history! Special thanks to painter Don Bailey for the design, which he calls “Intertribal.” Bailey is Native American and grew up on the Hoopa Valley Reservation in Northern California. He now lives in Portland.

Did you know? Honoring veterans

Of our 3,500+ employees, at least 5% are veterans! We are proud to have those who served their country, now serving our community through meaningful work at TriMet.

One of the ways we support those employees is through our TriMet Vets Employee Resource Group (ERG). The TriMet Vets ERG marched in this year’s Portland Veterans Day Parade, walking alongside our stunning new Veterans Day bus. It was designed by one of our graphic designers, who is also a Navy veteran. You’ll see the bus out and about our service area for at least a year!
