πŸŽ‰ "A Better Red" Extends MAX Red Line West to Serve 10 More StationsΒ πŸŽ‰

Wow! It's been three years of construction, but the wait is finally over!

MAX Red Line now runs between Portland International Airport and Hillsboro Airport ✈️

Construction began in the fall of 2021, so it's been a while in the making. We celebrated the opening with giveaways at three stations. Thanks for coming out for the big day πŸŽ‰

And yes, we know you want the squishy trains for sale! We're working on revamping our online store and are hoping to have new merch up later this year.

⚑️ Electric Buses Energy ⚑️

A couple of our new GILLIG e-buses are already rolling on Line 9 between Gresham and NW Portland. Have you seen them?

The new buses have
33% more energy storage compared to the previous generation. That means longer trips with fewer stops for recharging!

By investing in green technologies, we're moving closer toward our goal of a
zero-emissions bus fleet by 2040.

We’ll roll out more new e-buses on more lines in the coming weeks ⚑️🚌

🏎️ PDX Adult Soapbox Derby 🏎️

Wow! We were completely blown away by this bus created by riders Monica and Tony for the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby πŸ‘

Just look at this cutie:

🐣 The Interns 🐣

Our interns are doing some cool stuff! 😎

They recently got to see inside the Ruby Junction rail facility and learn how we operate and maintain our light rail vehicles.

They're learning about transit-oriented development, engineering, service planning, customer service and more as part of our intern program.

Want to intern with us? We'll share any news of open applications in the spring.

πŸ“‘ Oregon's New Drug Law πŸ“‘

Oregon’s new drug law will improve safety on transit and in public spaces starting September 1.

The new law makes possession of hard drugs in publicβ€”including on our buses and trains, at stops, stations and transit centersβ€”a misdemeanor offense.

The change in law gives police, prosecutors and treatment centers new tools to address this public health and safety issue.

Our Executive Director of Safety and Security, Andrew Wilson, recently went on OPB to discuss how we're increasing security and enforcement. Listen to the interview.
