Service Alert: Extreme Weather Update

Good afternoon, transportation officials and weather experts are advising everyone to avoid travel due to the forecast for freezing rain and winds beginning this afternoon and into tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service advises everyone to be off the roads by 3 p.m., and we urge you to complete your trips for the day as soon as possible. Six bus lines suspended this morning will be canceled for the rest of the day (lines 1, 18, 39, 51, 55, 63) and service on ten other bus lines (15, 19, 20, 32, 33, 35, 58, 75, 96, 99) will be adjusted as we prepare for the storm and potentially dangerous road conditions. This will mean some areas will not have regular bus service after 4 p.m. Plan ahead by going to trimet.org/alerts to see if service in your area will be suspended. Additional changes may be needed during the storm based on road conditions. Continue checking trimet.org/alerts before heading out. All buses will be chained beginning at 2 p.m. Chained buses cannot go faster than 25 mph. MAX Blue Line continues to run between Hillsboro and Gresham, serving all stations except Washington Park MAX Station due to the closure of the Oregon Zoo and Washington Park. Shuttle buses are serving all other MAX lines in place of trains. Shuttle buses will be chained. If you must travel, dress warmly and plan extra time. Use caution getting to and from stops and stations, as sidewalks, streets and stairs are expected to get slick. Check trimet.org/alerts and expect delays. TriMet will not turn away anyone traveling to or from an emergency warming shelter who is unable to pay fare through 12 p.m. Wednesday. Please let your bus operator know that you are heading to or from a warming shelter. LIFT paratransit continues providing medically-necessary trips only. TriMet?s Customer Support Center as Pioneer Square is closed today, as is TriMet Lost & Found.
