Service Changes coming Sunday, Aug. 27

We’re committed to improving your transit experience! Starting Sunday, Aug. 27, we’re rolling out service improvements from the Forward Together Service Concept.

Look for expanded Frequent Service options and more buses arriving every 30 minutes or less, at more times and on more days of the week. We’re also adjusting routes to speed up service and updating schedules to keep buses on time. Some routes will be reduced or canceled, as we put service where it's needed and most likely to be used.

Forward Together is a major redesign of our transit service done in partnership with the community. It’s focused on ridership and improving connections to jobs and services for people with low and limited incomes.

Service Changes

FX2-Division

Schedule adjusted by up to 4 minutes on weekends to keep buses on schedule.

Line 8-Jackson Park/NE 15th

We’re increasing service from Downtown to Marquam Hill during the morning and afternoon commute.

15-Belmont/NW 23rd

We’re improving our existing Frequent Service so buses on NW 23rd arrive every 15 minutes starting at 9:00 a.m. on weekends.

Line 17-Holgate/Broadway

We’re improving connections to Line 73 to help keep buses on schedule by ending eastbound buses at SE Holgate & 122nd instead of Holgate & 134th. Riders on Holgate between 122nd and 134th will be able to board buses headed to Portland City Center.

Line 19-Woodstock/Glisan (see map)

We’re improving service with buses arriving every 30 minutes for more hours of the day, every day. To improve reliability buses will use Tilikum Crossing instead of Ross Island Bridge, and service will be discontinued on SE Rex and SE 32nd for faster trips.

Line 32-Oatfield

Schedules adjusted up to nine minutes on weekdays to keep buses on schedule.

Lines 35, 36, 39 (see map)

We’re improving Line 35 service, with buses arriving every 30 minutes for more hours of the day, every day. We’ll also change the route with buses between Johns Landing and Lake Oswego alternating between Highway 43/Riverside (35R Macadam/Riverside) and Taylors Ferry and Terwilliger Blvd (35T Macadam/Terwilliger) to serve Lewis & Clark College and South Burlingame.

And, due to low ridership, we’re discontinuing Line 36.

Line 39 will be extended to serve the Arnold Creek neighborhood and Barbur Transit Center via Boones Ferry, Stephenson, 35th and Huber instead of serving Palatine Hill and Lewis & Clark College. Service will be reduced on weekdays to only run buses during peak travel time for Wells High School students.

Line 44-Capitol Hwy/Mocks Crest

We’re increasing morning service on Line 44 in SW to help riders connect with Lines 43 and 56 to Marquam Hill.

Lines 51 and 55 (see map)

We’re extending Line 51 service on SW Dosch Road via Sunset to Wells High School and SW Barbur and Bertha. Line 51 will end at Goose Hollow and no longer go to SW 2nd, but will continue to serve Lincoln High School.

We’re also reducing the number of Line 55 trips, due to low ridership and nearby service on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. Remaining buses will be timed for Wells High School students.

Lines 66, 75 and 77 (see map)

We’ll move Lines 75 and 77 out of Hollywood/NE 42nd Ave Transit Center to serve temporary stops on NE 42nd, Broadway and Halsey. This will allow for safe and reliable transit operations during renovation of the transit center and construction of the HollywoodHUB affordable housing development. Access will be maintained to and from the Hollywood Transit Center MAX Station.

We’re also extending evening service to Milwaukie on weekends on Line 75.

Line 66 will be discontinued due to low ridership and alternative service provided by Lines 8, 9 and MAX.

Line 70-12th/NE 33rd

We’re increasing evening service to NE 33rd on weekends.

Line 78-Denney/Kerr Pkwy

We’re restoring weekend service to PCC Sylvania on Lines 44 and 78.

Line 94-Tigard/Sherwood (see map)

We’re improving Line 94 service between Tigard and Sherwood with buses arriving every 20 minutes for more hours of the day, every day.

We’re also changing the route by removing Line 94 service between Tigard and Portland. Line 12 will continue to serve that area.

Line 99-Macadam/McLoughlin (see map)

We’re changing the route with southbound buses moving to S. Moody through the South Waterfront to reduce delays and simplify the route.

Southwest Hills (see map)

List of affected lines

We’re improving service on Lines 43 and 56, with buses arriving every 30 minutes for more hours of the day, every day. Lines 43 and 56 will provide service between Hillsdale to OHSU.

We’re upgrading Line 54 to Frequent Service, with buses arriving every 15 minutes for most hours of the day, every day.
