Equity on the Move

Are you or someone you know ready for a new career with starting pay of $25.24 per hour and a $7,500 hiring bonus? Driving for TriMet puts you in the driver seat for stable, full-time work. Bus operators receive guaranteed pay raises earning $68,000 per year or more, after three years on the job full-time.

TriMet also offers bus operators access to low and no-cost health plans, a retirement plan with an 8% employer contribution and up to $25,000 in life insurance coverage.

Summer pass program for qualifying students is underway

High school summer pass program

TriMet’s new pilot program to provide qualifying high school-age students with a free TriMet pass during the summer months is now open!

Students who are financially-challenged may qualify to receive a transit pass good for unlimited rides on TriMet buses, MAX, WES and Portland Streetcar through August 31.

Email or call Amparo Agosto at 503-962-2130 for more information. Learn more online.

TriMet's budget is approved

Last week, our Board of Directors approved TriMet’s budget for the coming fiscal year, which starts July 1. The $1.9 million budget will help us expand our zero-emission electric bus program over the next year and make improvements to our system.

For the tenth straight year, the budget does not include a base fare increase. Read more here.

Honoring Juneteenth

Juneteenth

TriMet is proud to recognize Juneteenth as an annual agency holiday beginning this year. Last year, on June 19, Gov. Kate Brown signed a bill into law to make Juneteenth an official holiday in Oregon.

As Juneteenth falls on a Sunday this year, the holiday will be observed on Monday, June 20. TriMet will provide regular bus, MAX and LIFT service. Plan your trip online.

Visit us at these events

Summer community events are kicking off this month! We’ll have bilingual staff at the Latino Cultural Festival on June 5 in Hillsboro.

On June 18-19, TriMet celebrates Juneteenth at Lillis-Albina Park in North Portland. You can also catch us marching in the Juneteenth kickoff parade on June 18.

Public safety update

The award announcements for Community-based Mini Trainings for our front-line staff and system partners are expected this month. TriMet’s Department of Transit Equity, Inclusion, and Community Affairs has been reviewing proposals. The trainings will enable TriMet to continue making our transit system safer and more welcoming for all.

Opt for a mask on transit

Masks are now optional on our buses and trains due to a change in federal law, but the Centers for Disease Control, the Multnomah County Health Department and the Oregon Health Authority recommend continuing to mask up on transit. Learn more about riding safely.
