🌎 Cleaner air for us all 🌎

TriMet's new renewable diesel

Until this month, we were the largest consumer of fossil diesel in Oregon. No more. This is the cleaner renewable diesel fuel we switched our buses over to on December 2.

The impact of this change plus our move to all renewable electricity earlier this year is the equivalent of taking more than 15,000 cars off our streets!

Video: See how this new fuel burns compared to our old fuel.

Temporary service reduction

Starting January 9, we’re temporarily reducing how often buses come on 20 of our 84 bus lines due to a shortage of operators.

Temporarily reducing service means that buses will run more true to schedule and riders will encounter far fewer canceled buses. We know you depend on us and we make this move only after exhausting all other options.

We’re working hard to hire new operators. Starting pay has been raised by $4 an hour and we recently announced a $2,500 hiring bonus. Our operators get fantastic benefits and after three years, full time operators make over $68,000 annually. Know anyone who might be interested? Send them the listing.

Articulated bus vs regular bus turning test

The first time someone sees one of our articulated buses, they often ask us, “How is that massive bus going to be able to turn on our tight streets?”

So, we tested one with a drone filming. Here’s what we saw.
