Upcoming Training Opportunities
As part of ongoing efforts
to help all government entities in Oregon better manage their public records
and responsibilities surrounding them, the Oregon State Archives and Office of
the Public Records Advocate will be providing free public records training
sessions in the cities listed below this month.
Representatives from the Oregon State
Archives - Records Management Unit will cover the basics of Public Records Law and retention schedules,
how to better organize records, and how to deal with records held within a variety
of technologies we all use on a daily basis. Public Records Advocate Ginger
McCall will discuss a bit of what her new office does and will talk
extensively about access rules regarding public records, including how to
effectively manage and respond to public records requests.
This training is intended for any local, county, special
district or state personnel that deal with records on a regular basis and would
like some guidance. No registration is required for this free training, but
seating is somewhat limited. We will fit as many people as can be accommodated
on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you know of others in your area who
might be interested please do share!
