 Incentive for new housing construction off to promising start
A temporary exemption of system development charges for new housing units, beginning last August, is helping permits get issued and construction started.

The City of Portland’s Permit Center, located at 1900 SW Fourth Ave., is now open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 4 p.m. for in-person 15-minute appointments, to perform basic permit research, and to pay fees.

Permitting & Development’s Land Use Services division is pleased to partner with Prosper Portland’s Office of Small Business at its monthly community office hours to offer helpful information about how the City’s zoning rules affect small businesses.

The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) updated its program for reimbursing developers who build sewer or stormwater infrastructure beyond the minimum required. The new program, called Sewer and Stormwater Improvement Reimbursements (SSIR), replaces the Drainage Improvement Program (DIP) and the Sewer Extension Reimbursement Program (SER).
