Underground drilling is starting
Crews are installing a water pipe underneath SW Barbur Boulevard, SW Brier Place, and I‑5 using a jack and bore method to drill holes for sections of the pipe. This means we won’t have to disrupt traffic by digging trenches across major.
Visible work for the jack and bore section of the project will take place:
- Near the intersection of SW Nevada Street and SW Second Avenue
- In grassy areas between I-5 and SW Brier Place
- Near the intersection of S Laview Drive and S Corbett Avenue
We're drilling underneath SW Barbur Boulevard, SW Brier Place, and I-5.
The drilling equipment is loud and can cause vibration. You may feel the vibration in your home during work hours.
Work on SW Chestnut Street
Crews are installing a water main (pipe) at SW Chestnut Street between SW Fifth Avenue and SW Burlingame Avenue.
During this phase, crews will:
- Sawcut the pavement
- Dig trenches for the new water pipes
- Install the new water pipes
- Temporarily cover open trenches each evening while work is in progress
Open trench excavation work is starting on SW Chestnut Street
During weekdays, crews will work reduced hours on SW Chestnut Street to accommodate school traffic. Reduced work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sometimes we may need to work on Saturdays to keep the project on schedule. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
