During weekdays, crews will work reduced hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on SW Chestnut Street to accommodate school traffic.
Construction is starting on SW Chestnut Street
Crews are starting to install a water main (pipe) at SW Chestnut Street between SW Fifth Avenue and SW Burlingame Avenue. Crews will work on a portion of the road during work hours and reopen the road each evening.

During weekdays, crews will work reduced hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on SW Chestnut Street to accommodate school traffic.
Crews may need to work intermittently on Saturday's from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to keep up with their schedule.
Preparing for underground drilling
Crews will install a water pipe underneath SW Barbur Boulevard, SW Brier Place, and I‑5 using a jack and bore method to drill holes for sections of the pipe. This means we won’t have to disrupt traffic by digging trenches across major.

Before starting to drill, crews are preparing the sites above ground and bringing in construction equipment.
Visible work for the jack and bore section of the project will take place:
- Near the intersection of SW Nevada Street and SW Second Avenue
- In grassy areas between I-5 and SW Brier Place
- Near the intersection of S Laview Drive and S Corbett Avenue
The drilling equipment is loud and can cause vibration. You may feel the vibration in your home during work hours.
Work is continuing on SW Nevada Street
Crews are continuing to install water main (pipes) at SW Nevada Street between SW Second Avenue and SW Fifth Avenue.

During this phase, crews will:
- Sawcut the pavement
- Dig trenches for the new water pipes
- Install the new water pipes
- Temporarily cover open trenches each evening while work is in progress
Crews will work on a portion of the road during work hours and reopen the road each evening. Each section will take about one to two weeks. Schedules are subject to change.
