Thanks for your interest in the Safer Outer Stark project. We invite you to join us at an additional open house next week, or to share your thoughts on the proposed improvements via an online survey. |
Did you miss the open house we had in November? If so, join us next Monday, January 13th at The Rosewood Initiative to learn more about the project and share your thoughts. Stop by anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 pm to learn more about the improvements and share your thoughts. You can view a flyer for the event here.
Note: the information and opportunity for feedback is the same that was shared in November during the open house at Floyd Light Middle School.
If you can't make the open house, or prefer to view the recommendations and share your thoughts online, click here or the picture below. The survey will close on January 15th.
Why Are Improvements Needed on Stark?
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is planning to make improvements along the three-mile section of SE Stark Street between SE 108th Avenue and SE 162nd Avenue. This corridor has been identified as a Vision Zero High Crash Corridor for people driving, people biking, and people walking. In just the past five years, seven people have died in transportation-related crashes along this section of SE Stark Street.
Funding for the planning, design, and construction of these improvements is from taxes resulting from House Bill 2017, development fees, cannabis taxes, and Build Portland funds. The Build Portland funds will pay for pavement and signal improvements, with the remaining funds dedicated to crossing and corridor safety.
|
Plan Goals:
-
Reduce deadly and serious crashes for all people using all modes
-
Reduce excess motor vehicle speeds
-
Provide safe access and crossings for people walking/ riding bicycles, and accessing transit
-
Support future development of enhanced transit along the corridor
